New requirements for card payments online (SCA - PSD2)

Webinar July 2nd 9.00 am - 10.00 am

September 14, 2019 is an important date for the e-commerce industry in Europe. A new requirement for online card payments to be verified by the Consumer before a purchase will be introduced.

The payment verification must be made by the Consumer using two-factor authentication. For Visa and Mastercard payments this is done by using 3D Secure. This change is one component of the effort to harmonise the European payments landscape, where the same rules apply to everyone and where consumer protection is strong. This requirement is part of the EU regulatory framework called PSD2 (Payment Service Directive 2) and the requirement for verification is called SCA (Strong Customer Authentication).

To explain all of this we have invited our expert Nabeel Moosa, Senior Product Manager for Digital Services at Nets. He leads product development for PSD2 across Nets Merchant Services. This covers all things from optimising Strong Customer Authentication to new Payment Initiation Service payment methods.
